A year later and even though the disapproval ratings of the government and Congress remain equally high the situation is different. The protests have died down and several questions immediately arise What has happened Has Boluartes government been consolidated Have Peruvian citizens resigned themselves to waiting for the electionsAfter assuming the presidency after Castillos failed selfcoup attempt Boluarte decided to form a coalition with the majority in Congress so that everyone would remain in their positions until thus rejecting any type of electoral advance. not only in Castillos electorate which felt betrayed by Boluarte but also in a broader sector of the population that rejected both the former president and Congress.

And in that same context the new Prosecutor of the Nation Patricia Benavides was elected who established a close relationship with opposition sectors in Congress. Two days before Castillos selfcoup Vice President Boluarte was acquitted of various accusations in Congress. During those days Castillos vacancy dismissal seemed imminent so the withdrawal of the accusations against Boluarte suggested for some actors that there was some type of agreement with the opposition.
